Luna Iron

Luna Iron makes paintings that contain real meteorite iron.

The material comes from iron meteorites — ancient objects that formed before Earth existed. When craftsmen cut and polish meteorite into jewelry, they generate offcuts: iron-nickel alloy dust and granules that carry the same atomic structure as the original mass.

We collect those offcuts. We mix them into acrylic impasto. We press them into canvas.

The result is a surface with a provable physical history.

Every piece ships with a certificate documenting the iron source. This is not a story we invented. It is a material fact.

Luna Iron was founded in Irvine, California. Each work is unique. Each series is limited by available material.

THE MAKER

I'm not a trained painter. I started painting as a kid and never stopped, but my working life has been in design and data — building things that need to be verifiable, not just visually convincing.

When I started working with meteorite iron, that habit didn't go away. I wasn't satisfied saying "this contains meteorite material." I wanted to know exactly which meteorite, when it was found, and whether the classification was on public record. That's why every certificate links to the Meteoritical Bulletin Database instead of just making a claim.

The painting technique is self-taught — built up through years of trial, not formal training. The provenance system is built the way I'd build anything else I care about: with a source you can check yourself.
